1. Pay attention to the guest list
Craft a guest list that's diverse and full of your loveliest and most amazing friends. If they happen to be stylish and glamorous as well, even better. Do think about how many people you can host and still enjoy yourself. We love seeing a big bash of 260 people unfold in our largest 12x42 metre marquees. Equally, we see how a smaller group can be just as enjoyable, if not more so. Hosts and their guests are comfortable just being themselves, everyone has a good chat with everyone else and it doesn’t (usually) get out of hand.
2. A good DJ is always a great idea
A top tip for when it comes to music for your marquee party at home; don't spend hours agonising over your Spotify playlist. Those song choices might seem like a good idea but when they kill the vibe instantaneously on the night, you'll be left wondering what possessed you to hit 'Add to playlist'. Get a good DJ who can play to the room and keep the vibe intact.
If you're hosting a smaller, low key party at home, a DJ / Percussion duo is a great option, it's a combination of live drumming, Sax and mixed music that provides chilled out beats to keep guests on a relaxed high throughout the evening. Alternatively, consider an acoustic solo performer or duo, a pianist or jazz trio.
3. Curate the atmosphere carefully
Good people, great music, a unique venue and making sure everyone feels looked after is the key to a great party atmosphere.
Decorations can transform your home or marquee into a boogie wonderland. But there's a fine line a between tasteful and trashy. Choose decor that is chic and sustainable to enhance the atmosphere. Our marquees, look stunningly atmospheric with little embellishment and when the natural light fades, fairy and festoon lights bring the marquee to life with their warm twinkling glow.
End on a high by not letting the party drag on and fizzle out. Aim to be slipping into something more comfortable, and yes we do mean fleecey jim jams, by 2am.
4. Hire a good photographer
No matter how much they might protest, in truth everyone loves having their picture taken at a fabulous party when they're all glammed up. Having a professional photographer to capture all the memorable moments, the atmosphere and the energy will get everyone excited to see and share the experience.
5. Get the food and drink right
A good party should have canapés, delicious ones, no little cheesey pineapple ones (If you know you know). When it comes to the tipple, having a statement drink on offer makes, well a statement. Do make sure other options are available, its never fun going to an event with only one spirit being served and it's the one you nearly got alcohol poisoning from in a field when you were 16 and haven't been able to stomach since. With sober now being the trend, a great non-alcoholic beverage will go down well.
